Google and Apple Hire Crypto Talent as Stablecoin and Tokenization Infrastructure Draws Attention

Google and Apple are seeking employees with expertise in digital assets, further indicating that major technology companies are paying attention to stablecoins, tokenization and blockchain-based payments, while laying broader infrastructure for related applications.

Google Cloud is hiring an industry principal architect in Hong Kong, responsible for working with protocol foundations, exchanges, custodians and financial institutions to advance the tokenization of real-world assets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The position requires candidates to have experience in blockchain networks, smart contracts, stablecoin infrastructure, tokenized deposits and custody technology. Google said the role will advise executives and help develop its Web3 product roadmap, supporting Google's goal of becoming the preferred cloud service provider for digital asset developers and institutional adopters.

Apple is also expanding into the digital asset sector and is currently seeking a head of financial product strategy for Apple Pay, with the position based in Cupertino, California, or New York.

The position is primarily responsible for the strategy of Apple Card, Apple Cash, peer-to-peer payments and other consumer financial products, while also evaluating new products, partnerships and business models in the wallet, payments and commerce sectors.

These job postings do not mean that Google or Apple are launching new crypto products, but the positions indicate that stablecoins and tokenized deposits are becoming important areas of expertise within two of the world's largest technology and payment ecosystems, rather than being a focus only for crypto-native companies.

The connection between Google's work and digital assets is more explicit. Its potential architect will focus on cloud infrastructure, transaction signing systems, blockchain nodes and compliance requirements in markets including Hong Kong.

CME Group, as an institutional derivatives marketplace, announced in March 2025 that it was expanding its partnership with Google Cloud to explore asset tokenization and blockchain payments. At the same time, CME Group also announced the first phase of integration and testing of Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL).

These job postings came shortly after Samsung's move to add stablecoin functionality to Galaxy smartphones through Samsung Wallet. The move is expected to give hundreds of millions of users access to digital asset payment tools by default.

Analysts told CoinDesk that they see Samsung's scale as a potential distribution advantage for stablecoins.

As developments involving Google, Apple and Samsung attract attention, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, blockchain payments and related underlying infrastructure are becoming important areas of focus within major technology and payment ecosystems.
