Sei Token Usage Guide: How to Easily Get Started with the Sei Blockchain

Tools you need

Self-custody wallet: such as Metamask or Compass.

Sei tokens or stablecoins: You can earn Sei tokens on centralized exchanges (CEX) or hold stablecoins in self-custody wallets.

Connect your wallet to Sei

When you connect your wallet to the app on Sei, you will automatically be prompted to join the correct network in the wallet interface. It is recommended that you use the new app.sei.io. You can also find details for adding a Sei network manually here: Sei Network Setup Guide.

Link to EVM wallet

💡 In order to start using the app on Sei v2, users are strongly recommended to visit app.sei.io and follow the instructions to first link their wallet.

After connecting the wallet, users should navigate to the Dashboard tab to begin the wallet linking process. This process lets you discover the EVM address and Sei address associated with your Sei account. This process does not require SEI tokens as a gas fee.

Listing from a centralized exchange: If you are switching to Sei from a centralized exchange, the transition to using Sei and a 0x wallet address is very simple. Over time, these exchanges will upgrade their systems to support both types of addresses.

Withdraw to Sei address

Users simply copy the address starting with "sei..." and paste it on the withdrawal page of the selected CEX. Notes are not required when withdrawing, but you may be required to provide a note when depositing Sei back to CEX. Please refer to the guidance of the CEX of your choice to ensure safe transfer of assets.

Withdraw to an address starting with "0x": With the integration of CEX with Sei V2, users need to follow the instructions below in order to start operations on Sei using Metamask or other EVM wallets. If you currently have a "0x" address and wish to list from CEX to Sei, you will need to first find the corresponding Sei address by linking your wallet as described previously in this guide.

This requires the user to visit the Sei App's dashboard page. If you are linked, you will be able to see both addresses, otherwise you will be prompted to sign a message.
